Line diagrams for the York to Beverley & Selby to Driffield routes

Description

This book includes two major cross-country branches in Yorkshire: the line from York through Market Weighton to Beverley and that from Selby to Market Weighton. Both were promoted by the York & North Midland Railway (Y&NMR). The line from Bootham Junction, on the Y&NM’s Scarborough branch, to Market Weighton opened in October 1847 and the initially single-track link from Barlby Junction, Selby, 10 months later. The NER completed the line on to Beverley in May 1865. The nominally independent Scarborough, Bridlington & West Riding Junction Railway (SB&WR) over the Yorkshire Wolds to Driffield opened in 1889, being operated by the NER.
