The 94 page ‘Standard Railway Equipment – Permanent Way, 1926’, prepared by the LNER’s NE Area in consultation with a committee formed at the behest of the Ministry of Transport and made up of representatives from each of the ‘Big Four’ sets out the permanent way track standards then adopted by the LNER but also on the LMSR and SR. This book of scale detailed drawings show full timbering and chair details for turnouts, crossings, switches and slips as well as drawings of individual components which made the point-work of the period.
