Most books and articles written on the North Eastern Railway’s electrification on Tyneside have tended to concentrate on the route and rolling stock employed. Much of the technical information on the new equipment and structures or operating of the system not being covered. This publication brings together a number of original manufacturer’s brochures and official railway documents to fill this gap and commemorate the introduction of the first suburban passenger services during 1904.
