Description
With responsibility for on-board catering provision the Passenger Superintendents and Hotels & Restaurant Cars department, a special diagram book was made up to illustrate all of the restaurant, buffet and kitchen cars in service, together with any open saloons built specifically for meal provision. Many of the diagrams of pre-grouping vehicles were specially re-drawn for the book with any newly introduced post-1923 designs being included along with triplet dining car sets, and dining cars built for the prestige Silver Jubilee, Coronation and West Riding services. With these departments being concerned with seating and catering provision many of the diagrams were redrawn on vehicle conversion / modification; many carrying extra annotation.
