BR (NER) Newcastle Station Train Working, June – September 1952

£5.75

Description

Set out in this publication are the passenger and parcels train movements in and around Newcastle Central station in the summer of 1952, bringing with it seasonal extras. The complexities of steam-hauled services are set out with empty stock working to and from Heaton or Scotswood Bridge carriage sidings and light engine movements between the station and Gateshead, Heaton, Blaydon and Borough Gardens engine sheds. Though some advantage was to be had by having two bridges across the River Tyne the three through platforms, from its total of 15, with the seven east end bay platforms made for additional operational inconvenience
