Train 9E09, the 09.25 Liverpool to Newcastle, is seen leaving Durham in the sunshine on Saturday 30th November. This is 802 211, one of TransPennine’s new Hitachi Class 802 bi-modal trains – it has run on electric power between Liverpool and Manchester, then on diesel to York, and from there to its destination on electric power again. The TPE five-car units can seat up to 342 passengers in first and standard class.
