Sunday 23rd June 2019

The coach trip is planned from York to the Embsay & Bolton Abbey Steam Railway on Sunday 23rd June to ride on the 1903 NER Autocar that recently entered service after a long restoration project headed by Stephen Middleton. The coach will be provided by York Pullman. We have postponed the visit to the South Tynedale Railway to another date to be decided.

We shall be starting from the coach stop by the Memorial Gardens in Leeman Road, York at 9.30am and picking up at Harrogate rail station at 10.30am. We will have reservations on the 1200 NER Autocar service to Bolton Abbey and return. We should return to York by 5.30pm.

Tony Wright IET, IEng, SOE, MBES has offered to give us a ‘warts and all’ tour of the sheds at Embsay after the Autocar journey.

There is no charge for the tour but donations to the Wheldale restoration fund will be appreciated. The cost, including the Autocar journey, will be £25 per person.

Please ensure that bookings are in by the end of May using the downloadable booking form.
